My journey in healing work began with a childhood marked with intense pain and suffering yet balanced with the redemptive power of Love, Spirit, Family, and Community.

Growing up in the South Bronx in the 70’s, I experienced and witnessed the shadowy depths of fear, the madness born from despair, and the sweetest taste of the best fruits that the human heart can offer. The collective sum of my childhood experiences had awakened within me my love of kindness; my attraction to sincerity; my capacity for compassion; and my sensibilities to the resounding silence of the world within – the realm of Spirit.

Owing to my sense of a deeper need within that could only be fulfilled, ultimately, by my direct and conscious participation in my spiritual quest, I traveled throughout the country meeting and fellowshipping with brothers and sisters and friends for whom Spirit and healing were paramount.

One day, during a stay in Texas in 1996, I participated in a ritual involving water immersion and anointing with consecrated oil. In connection with the anointing there was to be a ‘laying on of hands’ and a pronouncement of one’s spiritual gifts. Wanting to hear directly from the Great Spirit what my gifts were, I went out alone before the ritual to pray and meditate. I knelt upon the Earth with my face to the ground and only the Trees and Great Sky above me.
