"I nourish myself with wholesome thoughts for my Mind, wholesome food for my Body and wholesome friends for my Spirit."
What Are Chakras
The chakras are specialized energy centers of our energetic, or subtle, bodies. Their function is to convert higher energies from the energetic (spiritual) realm into hormonal, physiological, and cellular changes in the physical body. The chakras are an important bridge between the subtle body and the physical body, helping to provide nourishing subtle energy for the benefit and vitality of the physical body.

The word chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘wheel’. Information about the chakras appears in ancient Indian yogic texts known as the Upanishads and Tibetan Buddhist writings, among others. In the ancient world, the realm of subtle energy and our subtle bodies was widely acknowledged and their role/function in our physical existence readily understood.

In the West, we recognize 7 major chakras in the subtle body (the number varies from 6 to 9 according to varying traditions) and each one is associated with a major physiological system, their related organs, and the endocrine glands.
