"I nourish myself with wholesome thoughts for my Mind, wholesome food for my Body and wholesome friends for my Spirit."
The practice of meditation delivers numerous benefits to the one who makes a sincere, daily practice of it. The benefits apply at different levels of our Being - mental, emotional, and physical. (It does not benefit the Spirit that lives in and through us because our Spirit is the Divine spark of our Life, complete, eternal, and all-wise). It is through meditation that we connect with our Spirit and learn to communicate with, relate to, and harmonize with the greatness of who we were before we came to Earth (and still are and always will be).
That meditation benefits us in numerous ways is a wonderful gift to Humanity, because individuals will have their own unique reasons for wanting to participate. This applies to all things and meditation is no different. For example, some choose to exercise to look good to others or to themselves; others exercise to feel better emotionally; others do it in order to increase their life expectancy; and still others do it with the goal of becoming a professional athlete. Yet, no matter what the motivation is that compels the individual to exercise, the benefits are activated in more than one area of life.
The same is true with meditation. Choose your own reason to meditate. You may do it for greater spiritual awareness, to manage stress or to explore the mind-body connection through practice instead of theory. There are many reasons one may choose to meditate. Choose one and meditate. Your reason, your ‘why’, will motivate you to continue when you are confronted by the challenges of daily discipline.
(But remember, it is a discipline today; a joy tomorrow.)
